Description – I was scouting around Emerald Bay last fall for a new composition one fine day. I found this solo juniper tree standing like a sentinel overlooking the bay. I envisioned what I wanted from the scene and returned as the conditions aligned. A massive lenticular cloud bank started to form one afternoon and I knew later that evening, I would be capturing the image I had envisioned. Junipers are my absolute favorite tree in the Basin and this one has endured the test of time, witnessing endless, epic Sierra light. I am jealous of what this twisted Juniper has seen. The first image of many from this vantage.
